Accommodations, Travel and Visa
Read below for information regarding hotels, travel to and within Estonia, and the need for a visa to enter Estonia.
Accommodations
CMC2016 during its Tallinn dates will meet at the Nordic Hotel Forum, and we thus recommend this hotel for your stay. The conference will begin on Sept. 5, so plan on arriving in Tallinn on Sept. 4th. Since the cruise to Stockholm starts on Sept. 7, you need hotel reservations for Sept. 4, 5 and 6.
During the cruise you don’t need to have a hotel reservation, as the conference registration fee includes the lodging on the cruise ship for Sept. 7 and 8.
The return from Stockholm is scheduled for Sept 9, which is the day for the (optional) Workshops. Depending on your travel plans you may need to reserve a hotel for Sept. 9 and the days after.
We have arranged special rates per night at the Nordic Hotel Forum, depending on when you book the room. For a single/double room, including full breakfast, free WiFi and free access to SPA, if booked between:
April 1 to June 27: 95€ per night
June 28 to day of the conference: 105€ per night
To obtain this rate, please make your reservations using this link: Link to Special Rate at Nordic Hotel Forum.
Nordic Hotel Forum cannot offer the discount rate for the night of the day we return from Stockholm. Since there will not be any more events at this hotel (the Workshops are held at Tallinn University), you may consider booking any nights after the cruise ship at one of the other hotels.

Travel
Tallinn is conveniently accessible by airplane, ferry, car or bus.
By Air: Most major European cities are less than 2.5 hours away by air. Direct flights are available from all of Tallinn’s neighboring capitals Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki; along with many other major European cities such as London, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Barcelona. The main airlines are SAS, Lufthansa, Easyjet, LOT Polish Airline, Air Baltic and several other carriers. There are no direct trans-atlantic flights to Tallinn, but Tallinn is well connected with Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen airports which can be used for trans-atlantic flights.
Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport is about 4 km from the Tallinn city centre (10-15 minutes by taxi, see below). Further information about the schedules and operating airlines is available at the homepage of Tallinn Airport – www.tallinn-airport.ee/eng.
By Sea: Another option to consider when travelling to Tallinn is flying to Helsinki, Finland and taking the ferry over to Tallinn. There is a frequent ferry connection between Tallinn and Helsinki and the ferry takes 2 hours. Ferries also link Tallinn to Stockholm (overnight ferry).
You can find more information about the ferry connection between Tallinn-Helsinki and Tallinn-Stockholm operated by Tallink Silja here – http://www.tallinksilja.com/en/.

By Road: Tallinn is 300 km from Riga, Latvia on the Via Baltica, part of the E67 Highway that runs to Prague.
By Bus: There is a choice of international bus lines connecting Tallinn with Riga, Vilnius, St. Petersburg and many German and Scandinavian cities.
Please find more information about bus connections with Tallinn here –
Eurolines – www.luxexpress.eu/lang/
Hansabuss – www.businessline.ee/index.php?page=3
By Rail: International overnight trains link Tallinn with Moscow, Russia.
Public Transportation within the city There is hardly a need for conference participants to use public transportation in the city, as the conference venue, all main hotels and major tourist attractions, restaurants and shops are in the city centre and within walking distance.
Taxi: We recommend using the taxi company:
Tulika takso, phone +372 6120 000 (card payments accepted)
Additionally, Uber is available in Tallinn.
The taxi fares may vary slightly depending on the traffic and company. Please note that most taxis accept only cash payments, therefore you should change some money in advance, or do it at the currency exchange points (there are exchange points at the airport and at the harbour).
The fare from the airport to the city centre is about 5€ to 10€.
